Brabners' Partner Consults on Anthony Grainger Inquiry

Monday 15 July 2019

The high-level expertise and consultancy within Brabners means that our teams are regularly involved in high profile cases and inquiries that are of national significance.

This week saw the conclusion of the Anthony Grainger inquiry, which was established by the Home Secretary in March 2016 to investigate the shooting of an unarmed man, Anthony Grainger, by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) in 2012.

Lachlan Nisbet, partner and head of regulatory, health and safety at Brabners, was appointed as solicitor to the Inquiry by the Chairman His Honour Judge Teague QC.

The Inquiry found that the shooting was legally justified but criticised senior officers at GMP for a “catastrophic series of failings and errors”, noting that Grainger’s death was ultimately preventable.
