“The leading firm for firearms licensing nationally. Years of experience and strength in depth. In an area where many aspire to get this niche work, they really stand out. The first port of call for firearms licensing problems. The go-to firm in this area.”

“To have my firearms removed was a very unpleasant shock. I don’t know what I’d have done without the help of the BASC firearms team and Lachlan Nisbet at Brabners. They couldn’t have been more accommodating and supportive.”
Client feedback
“Hailed for its ‘unrivalled knowledge of firearms law’... [Brabners is] without any doubt the standout firm of solicitors doing firearms licensing. No one comes close in terms of numbers of cases or knowledge of the subject matter.”

We assist our clients from the start of the licensing process, including with pre-application advice on your prospects of securing a licence.
If your application is refused — or your firearm or shotgun certificates are revoked — we provide quick, expert advice on a fixed-fee basis on your likelihood of successfully challenging the decision.
We also advise on Prohibited Person status. Our team has a near-perfect success rate in handling cases concerning revocation or refusal, and our track record in securing the return of certificates is close to 100%.
Our experience includes cases involving Public Interest Immunity (PII) and Closed Material Proceedings (CMP).

For a dealership, removal from the register of firearms dealers can be disastrous, even if you're only unable to trade for a short period of time.
Taking specialist legal advice early on in the process is crucial to your prospects and gives the best chance of salvaging the situation.
We also advise on Explosives Certificates and Explosives Licences regulated by the Health & Safety Executive, including appeals.

Allegations relating to the possession and/or misuse of firearms are treated very seriously. The court sentencing regime can be severe, with some offences carrying a mandatory minimum five-year prison sentence.
We advise on compliance, alleged breaches of certificate conditions, Section 5 offences, kinetic testing failures, antique firearms and matters relating to alcohol and psychiatry.
We have extensive experience in handling police firearms investigations, from arrest through to interview under caution, with an eye on any parallel certificate appeal proceedings.
It’s critical to act quickly. When we're instructed prior to interview, we have a strong track record in helping clients to avoid charges.

Legal 500 calls us “without any doubt the standout firm of solicitors doing firearms licensing” — our nationally-recognised team contains the country’s eminent experts in this area of the law.
The team is led by Partner Lachlan Nisbet, described as “the UK’s leading firearms and field sport lawyer” with “deep knowledge in firearms and field sports licensing”.
He's also a Legal Advisor to the British Association for Shooting and Conservation.
Lachlan is supported by a specialist team including Legal 500 ‘Leading Associate’ Charlotte McRae, noted as being “adept at handling firearms licensing appeals and criminal matters”.
“Purely as a result of an accident completely unrelated to me, I discovered first-hand how easy it is to get dragged into a police investigation — your home searched and property seized, very serious criminal allegations levelled and your certificates revoked. On the basis of a recommendation, I instructed Lachlan Nisbet of Brabners. It was clear to me from very early on that I had instructed the best in the field. The criminal allegations were dealt with quickly and Lachlan built and presented a case to the police which saw to the speedy return of my certificates and guns without the need for a costly appeal hearing. I couldn’t recommend Lachlan and his team more highly.”

“Brabners was thorough, fair and transparent in fighting our case. For that, we will always be grateful. You were able to save my reputation, which means a lot. You dealt with us in a professional way and showed patience and understanding, especially when I showed my frustration at times. This was a difficult time for us as a family, a situation I never thought we would be in.”
Firearms client
“I am writing to give my thanks and praise for your hard work in ensuring that the Metropolitan Police’s decision to revoke my shotgun certificate was overturned. I cannot thank you enough for the legal assistance and advice that you gave me. I could not recommend Brabners more highly and would definitely return to use your services.”

“My family and I would wholeheartedly recommend Brabners, their professionalism, diligence and caring attitude they showed in dealing with my case. From the first day I contacted Brabners, they gave me the confidence that I would get the closure we wanted. I would happily recommend their services without doubt.”
