CIH Housing 2022 Conference

Friday 1 July 2022

Helen Brown reflects on key takeaways from the recent CIH Housing Conference.

I recently wrote a blog considering how registered providers can access funding to meet the country’s housing supply challenges. A strong theme at this week’s CIH Housing 2022 Conference in Manchester was ESG, one aspect being how ESG is reported on to attract and satisfy investors and funders in the housing sector. Registered providers have always done the ‘S’ and the ‘G’ of ESG as a matter of course and they now need to be proactive at capturing this activity so as to meet lending criteria. However, it is the ‘E’ that is likely to be the focus of funders in the coming years as they seek to meet their own ESG targets amid mounting pressure to address the climate crisis.

It has been another great week for Brabners at the Conference. As well as ESG, we have listened to sessions exploring levelling up, the challenge of retaining young professionals in the housing industry and many more interesting topics.

We also caught up with clients and contacts across the sector and hosted over 100 of them at our annual drinks event. It was great to see so many of the people we have worked with over the years and make introductions to new team members on all sides.

We’re already looking forward to the next one!
