Inheritance tax is, in a nutshell, tax due on an estate of somebody who has died. Currently, there is generally no inheritance tax to pay if either the value of your estate is below the nil rate band of  £325,000 or you leave an estate of over £325,000 and there are associated inheritance tax reliefs available.
