Meet the Employment Law team: Trishna Modessa-Parekh Solicitor

Trishna is a Solicitor in our Employment Team. She advises on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment and HR related issues. This includes employment tribunal claims, auditing contracts of employment, policies and procedures and providing support on the employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions such as advising on the implications of TUPE.

How long have you been with Brabners?

I joined Brabners from another law firm in January 2021, in the midst of a global pandemic.

What’s your specialist area of law, and what drew you to it?

My specialist area of law is Employment, albeit I was almost enticed into qualifying in Commercial Property. However, I was drawn towards the ever-changing and exciting world of Employment Law because I found that no day in the office was ever the same and there is a good balance of contentious and non-contentious work within this area of law, particularly since I was always torn between becoming a Solicitor and a Barrister. I was also influenced by the personal element to practising Employment Law, which involves building a strong relationship and understanding of clients and their business in order to become their trusted advisor. Put simply, I am a people person.

What’s the most satisfying thing in your role?

My area of guilty pleasure (albeit the same cannot be said for clients) is Employment Tribunal work. There is nothing more interesting than a claim with different elements of law being challenged and considered in Employment Tribunal, particularly where the facts of the case are interesting or juicy! There is of course a euphoria attached to succeeding with such claims.

What are the values that drive you?

Aspiring to become a client’s trusted adviser, whether in regard to Employment related issues or to point the client in the right direction for support. I value acting honestly and with integrity in my role as a trusted adviser. In addition to this, being part of a fantastic team of lawyers who support each other to deliver the best advice and service that we can to our clients, but also to each other drives me to always do better.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

My passion in life is to travel the world, which has unfortunately been de-railed by Covid-19. However, I also enjoy nice walks with my four-legged best friend Zuri and have a passion for driving and admiring fast cars!
