Matt is a Partner in our real estate team.
He acts on a wide range of commercial real estate instructions and has extensive experience in representing institutional investors and asset managers — advising across the full lifecycle of asset ownership, from acquisitions to development, financing, leasing and disposals.
Matt also works closely with retailers, leisure and hospitality businesses and corporate occupiers on their property requirements.
With his client-centred, solutions-driven approach, Matt is known for his responsiveness and efficiency. He enjoys building and leading teams to deliver time-critical outcomes.
Matt’s recent experience includes:
- Acting on the acquisition, financing and asset management of a number of UK shopping centres, events spaces and retail parks.
- Advising a hospitality sector client on the development and funding of a new hotel scheme.
- Working with a retail client on a variety of matters concerning the opening of a new UK flagship store.
Matt has a genuine interest in ESG and regularly advises clients on energy efficiency regulations and ‘green lease’ drafting.
His work has received recognition by The Legal 500, which praised his "great technical skills" and his work with “large international clients on high-value, complex real estate deals”, as well as his ability to "take large teams... under his wing”.
Matt joined our Leeds office in 2026 after working for a major global law firm for a number of years.
