Helena is a Partner in our Property Litigation team, and Head of our Retail sector.
Helena is an experienced property litigator who is highly regarded in her field.
She advises on the full range of real estate disputes including adverse possession and boundary disputes, title issues such as restrictive covenants and easement interference, nuisance claims and party wall conflicts.
Appointed Head of the firm’s Retail Sector in December 2021, Helena is now orchestrating campaigns and events to raise awareness and share best practice around the issues at the top of the agenda for our clients and contacts working in retail. With a major focus on ESG, Helena is bringing together industry leaders to educate and inform around purpose-led businesses and sustainability within retail. She personally acts for retailers Matalan, DFS, Well Pharmacy and Beaverbrooks the Jeweller amongst others
Helena is also a leading practitioner in Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 cases and acts on contentious matters involving leases such as forfeitures, break options, tenant insolvencies and dilapidations.
She acts for investment landlords, local authorities and private clients, as well as occupiers from the retail, wholesale, telecommunications, and leisure sectors. She has extensive experience of resolving disputes through mediation as an alternative to litigation.
Helena has practised for nearly two decades in this specialist field and she is regularly published in Estates Gazette and the Property Law Journal.
She is a member of the Property Litigation Association as well as the Pyramus and Thisbe Club for party wall professionals and is named on the RIBA panel of specialist consultants.
She was classed as a ‘Next Generation Partner’ by the 2022 edition of The Legal 500. The 2022 edition described her as 'always compassionate yet to the point in her communications', adding that 'she builds relationships but also gets results. What is more, she reacts very quickly, takes issues seriously and wins challenging fights.'
