Amy is a Legal Director in our family team.
She specialises in advising clients who are experiencing a relationship breakdown, including divorce and the dissolution of civil partnerships. Many of Amy's cases involve significant complicating factors such as international issues and assets, as well as trusts, farms, share interests and options, businesses and pensions.
Her international family law practice has seen her advise on financial settlements following a foreign divorce as well as negotiate international pre-nuptial agreements.
Amy advises clients on legal arrangements for children and is experienced in cases that involve the relocation of children either within the UK or worldwide.
The nature of Amy’s work requires her to lend a reassuring and sympathetic ear with a focus on outstanding client care. She acts for individuals and families from all backgrounds across the UK and internationally — often working closely with other advisors like accountants, financial advisors, counsellors and coaches to achieve the best possible outcomes. Amy represents a number of wealthy and high-profile individuals and families, including sports personalities, business owners and landowners.
Her practice involves wealth protection work — including nuptial agreements — and she works closely with the private client and corporate teams to find bespoke solutions for our clients.
A member of Resolution and mental health first aider, Amy is committed to resolving family matters amicably and uses all her skills to support clients throughout the divorce process. While she always explores out of court and non-court dispute resolution (NCDR) options, Amy has extensive experience in dealing with court proceedings and has assembled a network of excellent specialist family law barristers.
After specialising in family law during her Legal Practice Course (in which she achieved a distinction), she has exclusively practised family law ever since. Prior to joining us in 2019, she worked at other law firms across the North West of England and London.
An experienced commentator on family law matters, Amy has made regular appearances on TV — including for the BBC, ITV and Sky — as well as on national and local radio. She has written for publications including Family Law Journal and The Resolution Review and has been quoted in Financial Times, City AM, Manchester Evening News (MEN), The Times, The Daily Mail, The Independent and Spear's Magazine.
Amy is recognised and ranked by Chambers and Partners which comments that she “has notable expertise in financial remedy proceedings for individuals with high-value and complex assets”. Their feedback also describes her as having a “fabulous reputation around Manchester” and that she is “practical, methodical and very pleasant to deal with”.
Outside of work, Amy enjoys cooking and eating out as well as spending time walking in the Lake District with her family. She is passionate about the performing arts and enjoys regular trips to the theatre.
Amy is based in our Manchester office but regularly works from our other offices in Liverpool, Leeds and Lancashire to meet with clients.
