Meet the Employment Law team: Heena Kapadi

Heena is based in Manchester, and advises on a wide range of cases employment tribunal claims, disciplinary/grievance issues, settlement agreements and exit negotiations, and the drafting of bespoke employment documentation such as contracts and staff handbooks.

How long have you been with Brabners?

I joined Brabners in July 2019 following the acquisition of HRC Law. Prior to that, I had been with HRC Law since 2 January 2018 (the day I qualified as a Solicitor!).

What’s your specialist area of law, and what drew you to it?

My specialist area of law is Employment. I studied it at degree level, as well as on the LPC, and I did a short seat as part of my training contract. I was drawn to how varied and ever-changing this area of law is, which has definitely been proven to be true over the last year or so. I also love how relatable it is given that many issues impact our everyday lives.

As well as pure employment work, I deal with matters where there is an overlap with immigration law. I support a range of clients across a range of sectors, including recruitment.

What’s the most satisfying thing in your role?

Pursuing or defending an employment tribunal claim can be a very lengthy and stressful process for clients. Supporting them through this and achieving the best possible result at a final hearing is very satisfying!

What are the values that drive you?

Authenticity, honesty, and integrity. I believe these values are the foundation to developing and nurturing relationships with clients and colleagues.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

All the things I have thoroughly missed because of the pandemic – travelling, eating out, and playing netball. I’m sure I’m not the only one looking forward to a bit of normality.
