Brabners launches new True North network to stimulate purpose-led growth across the region
Leading independent law firm Brabners has launched True North – a network for purpose-led organisations committed to collaborating and playing their part in supporting the future of the North.
It marked the launch of the network with a new report, produced after gathering the views of more than 100 leaders dedicated to unlocking the potential of the Northern economy.
The True North report brings together a broad collection of insights gained from a series of discussions convened in Lancashire, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield, attended by the likes of Lloyds Banking Group, the Prince’s Trust and the University of Leeds.
The report includes contributions from leading organisations, such as The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and Manchester social enterprise, Regeneration Brainery, and summarises the discussion series insights across four themes of:
It highlights the desire to go further than concepts, such as the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ and ‘Levelling Up’ and promotes increased collaboration between like-minded partners on a region-wide basis – all committed to delivering practical progress, sharing best practice and fostering new partnerships – aimed at driving future prosperity.
In the absence of an aligned strategy between business, government and academia that translates across the entire region, the report identifies the opportunity for grassroot action, from the businesses, people and other organisations that are on the ground reaching into their local communities, to deliver progress on:
Robert White, CEO at Brabners, said: “True North is a new network committed to supporting the future of the North. It unites the region’s most influential voices and purpose-driven organisations to co-create a path forward in unlocking the potential of the Northern economy.
“We have captured intelligence from across the network in our inaugural report, which begins to outline a roadmap for how leaders can enable purposeful change and social impact.
“True North is about highlighting all of this activity and bringing it together in one place – one network for purpose-led organisations alongside the small businesses, social enterprises, and foundations, who don’t always have a voice.
“It also represents an invitation. True North is an open call to organisations of any size across the region to seize this opportunity and to be the architects of change.
“If you are an organisation that is delivering progress towards our four key themes and could benefit from collaborating with new partners, our network can be the catalyst for you to achieve your ambitions and stimulate purpose-led growth across the region.”
