We’ve appointed Freya Grummitt to the newly created position of Social Impact Manager in a move that follows our recent B Corp recertification.
Freya joins us with 15 years of experience in delivering responsible business and social impact initiatives across consultancy, public sector and corporate environments.
The appointment supports our long-standing social impact strategy, with Freya leading the development and delivery of our community and sustainability initiatives, embedding environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities across our business, strengthening impact measurement and reporting and increasing the visibility of our long-term social impact work.
The role will also generate greater opportunities for clients to collaborate on shared social impact goals, creating the opportunity for even stronger, more meaningful partnerships that extend way beyond traditional legal services, as many organisations place an increased focus on sustainability and community impact.
Following our recent recertification as a B Corp, we’ve now set another ambitious goal and committed to becoming a net zero business by 2040 — ten years before the UN’s target. Achieving this goal by reducing emissions even further, supporting community regeneration and embedding sustainability into our operations, policies and planning will form a key part of Freya’s role.
Freya shares our belief that delivering meaningful social impact is integral to achieving our broader ambition to Make The Difference, with a real focus on translating this mission into action.
Since 2019, we’ve reduced waste by 47 tonnes and cut paper usage by 3.1m sheets annually. We've also reduced our gender pay gap, offered every colleague two paid volunteering days each year and achieved our ambition of delivering 365 days of pro bono support last year.
In addition, the Brabners Foundation has raised and donated over £250,000 to local and national charities and good causes.
Freya Grummitt, Social Impact Manager, said: “Throughout my career, I've been passionate about helping organisations to create meaningful, lasting change. For Brabners, social impact isn't treated as a separate initiative or a box-ticking exercise. It's embedded within the firm's culture, values and mission to Make The Difference.
There’s already a huge amount of positive work taking place across the business, from community partnerships and volunteering to pro bono support and colleague-led initiatives. I'm excited to help build on those strong foundations, bringing greater visibility and strategic focus to our social impact efforts.
One of my main aims for Brabners is to combine robust impact measurement with the stories and experiences behind the numbers, because both are essential to understanding real-world impact. By working closely with clients, colleagues and community partners, we’re going to deliver even more meaningful outcomes and the ability to demonstrate the difference that we can make together."
Robert White, Chief Executive Officer, said: “Freya’s appointment marks an exciting step forward in our commitment to creating lasting positive impact. As a purpose-led business, we’ve long been committed to using our influence, expertise and resources to demonstrate that business can bring about positive and lasting change.
Her appointment reflects our ambition to go even further. From advancing social mobility and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups to supporting our journey towards net zero and building partnerships with clients to maximise our combined positive impact, we’ll ensure that social impact remains embedded in every aspect of our business. Freya's expertise, passion and collaborative approach make her ideally placed to help us build even greater momentum.”
As a purpose-led, independent law firm and certified B Corp, we believe in using our expertise, influence and platform to help people, businesses and communities to thrive. It's part of how we Make The Difference.
