Simon is a Partner in our corporate team.

An experienced corporate lawyer, he offers pragmatic advice with an emphasis on finding solutions — not problems.

Simon handles issues such as corporate acquisitions and disposals, corporate restructures and shareholder agreements, alongside more general corporate strategy and support.

He also helps to plan transactions alongside corporate finance teams and often acts as a bridge between clients and their other professional advisers, especially in the area of tax planning.

Simon has a strong background in non-contentious work and a successful track record of managing complicated deals — including multi-million-pound acquisitions and disposals — as well as the implementation of long-term ‘buy and build’ strategies.

As chair of our sustainability and environmental group, Simon led our successful application to become B Corp certified in 2022. Recognised as a Better Business Pioneer, Simon is an advocate for the role of the legal sector in sustainability and regularly speaks at events focused on sustainability and the B Corp movement.

He also plays a leading role in our efforts to help other businesses become more sustainable or even B Corps themselves.

Included in The Lawyer Hot 100 2023 — in which he’s described as “law’s answer to David Attenborough” — Simon is classed as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ and one of Manchester’s few ‘Next Generation Partners’ in The Legal 500 2024.

Simon’s clients include All About Children, EDAM Group and William Hare Group.

He joined us in 2005 and is based in our Manchester office.

Simon is calm, conciliatory, yet subtly assertive in his approach. As with most solicitors, he will be clear if you cannot do something. Yet unlike (in my experience) most other solicitors, he will then think about and explain what you can do to achieve the desired goal.
