Richard Rigg

Richard is a Legal Director in our Family team.

Richard is an experienced family lawyer who handles all aspects of family law.

He focuses primarily on divorce and financial settlements arising from the breakdown of marriages. He advises in complex financial proceedings often involving business interests, shareholdings, assets held outside the jurisdiction, family trusts, tax issues and complicated pension provisions.

Richard regularly deals with wealth protection work such as pre-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements, as well as resolving financial issues arising from the relationship breakdown of an unmarried couple or cohabitees, often involving proceedings regarding the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 (ToLATA).

He works on behalf of a wide range of clients – most notably acting both for and against high net worth individuals – and is often praised for his client-focused, pragmatic approach.

He also advises on complex private law Children Act work involving child arrangements, internal and external relocation, parental alienation, allegations of harm and abuse, change of residence, international child abduction and financial provision for children.

He is a member of Resolution and serves as the treasurer of Resolution Merseyside.

The Legal 500 notes that “Richard’s preparation is thorough and exhaustive; he is determined to get the best result for his clients”.

Richard joined us in 2017 and is based in our Liverpool office.
