Chris is a Partner in our corporate team.
He’s one of the most experienced specialist pharmacy transactional lawyers in the country, having advised on over 1,000 branch acquisitions and disposals since 2003 with a combined value of well over half a billion pounds.
Chris also works on venture capital investments, MBOs, MBIs, joint ventures, de-mergers and corporate restructurings.
Chris’ clients are typically owner-managed retail dispensing pharmacies — which can range from those owning a single pharmacy to large groups with hundreds of branches — as well as distance-selling (online) pharmacies.
His key clients include PCT Healthcare Limited, Sigma Pharmaceuticals Plc, Delmergate Limited and the MSN & Lunts Pharmacy Group.
Chris also advises banks that lend to the pharmacy sector, in addition to other businesses such as pharmacy consultants and pharmacy software businesses.
As an outstanding communicator, project manager and problem-solver, Chris excels in getting deals done. He’s very down-to-earth and enjoys helping clients to understand the law and the legal decision-making process to ensure that they feel empowered rather than simply ‘along for the ride’.
Chris has been recognised for his work by leading legal directory The Legal 500 for being “highly skilled” and “always [doing] an excellent job”, as well as Chambers & Partners for being “proactive”, “approachable, diligent and knowledgeable” and having “significant experience in the healthcare and retail industry sectors”. Chris has also written for specialist publication 'Chemist + Druggist'.
As one of our Training Partners, Chris holds responsibility for recruiting and mentoring our Trainee Solicitors — helping to launch and develop the careers of the next generation of lawyers.
Chris qualified as a corporate lawyer in 2003. His legal career started at just 16 years old when he undertook work experience at a local solicitors' firm and was hooked within a fortnight. He went on to study law at the University of Leicester before completing the Legal Practice Course at what was then the College of Law in York. Chris then spent a decade at a local Leeds-based firm where he eventually became a Partner. After a stint at another Leeds-based firm — which saw Chris sell that business to a large AIM-listed professional services group alongside his fellow Partners — Chris joined us in 2022 to help set up our Leeds office and grow our local team into the success that it is today.
Outside of work, Chris has a black-belt in kickboxing and is a self-confessed health, fitness and wellbeing geek. He also regularly travels to South-East Asia with his family for the cuisine and culture.
