In 2022, we were appointed by a global leader in printing following a significant COVID-19 workplace outbreak and subsequent regulatory intervention involving a number of regulators.
Our Brabners Protect team was able to get boots on the ground immediately to undertake an investigation and advise the undertaking on the regulatory process and investigation.
During the outbreak investigation, it became apparent that there were other gaps with the organisation’s approach to health and safety. We therefore completed a full corporate audit alongside the COVID-19 outbreak investigation, applying legal professional privilege to the process and providing strategic risk management advice to the senior management team.
Following the initial status review and corporate audit, we assisted in developing business-specific policies and procedures. We also provided the senior management team with regular legal and technical health and safety updates and completed a full training program for the undertaking’s management team.
We further developed a bespoke support package that includes regular site attendance to ensure that the newly developed health and safety policy and procedures are successfully implemented — and that all employees are fully trained and understand the expectations of the business’ new approach to health and safety.
Many clients are unaware of their responsibilities and duties when it comes to health and safety.
The speed of our response and initial investigation allowed for other issues to be identified and corrected before they drew the attention of the regulator. This often makes the difference when it comes to avoiding prosecution.
Our investigation and audit work were carried out under privilege — preventing any regulator from accessing the resulting report.
