We are both barristers who have worked with Zoe on a number of cases. We firmly believe that she is deserving of the NQ Solicitor award. Zoe specialises in social housing work and has quickly taken responsibility for cases that are very complex for her seniority, such as a complex enfranchisement claim and a challenging injunction and committal applications involving issues of capacity and mental health. She handles her work with a competence that far exceeds her PQE – indeed, we had to double-check that she was eligible for this award! She is able to identify quickly the essential issues in the case and manages her matters extremely efficiently. We know that when we receive instructions from her the case will have been thoroughly and thoughtfully prepared. Zoe has developed a good understanding of the social housing sector. She appreciates the pressures under which housing officers work. She is therefore able to build good relationships with clients, goes the extra mile for them and already has a loyal following. Zoe has been instrumental in developing a northern branch of the Social Housing Law Association, which provides a space for lawyers and clients in the social housing sector to share knowledge and experiences.

I have worked with Zoe on several cases in the past 18 months. I have found her to be knowledgeable with the ability to explain legal matters in layman’s terms and above all else I have found her to be approachable.
Zoe has made herself available outside of normal working hours and she clearly puts 110% effort into each case I present her with, this is evident within the communications I have with through a number of channels that best suit the circumstances showing her adaptability in demanding and changeable situations. I have witnessed Zoe having discussions with the defendant in a polite, informative and nonjudgmental manner. This helps to management the case in challenging circumstances. I have also witnessed how Zoe supports witnesses, providing support from the very start with the offer of showing witnesses around the court building and explaining the court process. Zoe is very deserving of recognition, she is a credit to Brabners and a truly lovely, professional person.
