Brabners Foundation announces grants for North West organisations

Friday 25 March 2022

Our independent charity The Brabners Foundation has donated over £25,000 to good causes in the North West in its latest round of grants.

The grants were made to nine organisations, nominated by Brabners colleagues and selected by the Foundation’s Trustees:

  • Beacon Counselling Trust: This charity works to prevent suicide and support bereaved families following suicide. We provided £5,000 to fund 20 specialist counselling sessions for five people.
  • Place2Be: We provided £2,500 to fund eight to ten counselling sessions for 31 children and young people suffering with mental health issues via their schools.
  • The Girls’ Network: This organisation aims to empower girls from less advantaged communities. We provided £2,250 to cover the cost of mentoring three girls aged 14 to 19 for a year to help them develop their self-worth and realise their ambitions.
  • Parkinson’s UK: We provided £500 to fund research into a cure for Parkinson’s.
  • Guide Dogs: We provided £1,000 to fund training of a guide dog puppy for a year.
  • School Home Support: We provided £5,000 to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds with their education, funding 30 school uniforms, 24 washing machines or fridges, emergency food for 175 families and beds for 30 children.
  • Recycling Lives Charity: We provided £3,000 to support homeless men and ex-offenders with residential training and employment opportunities.
  • North West Air Ambulance: We provided £4,600 to fund ten blood bags, helping critical care paramedics administer blood transfusions on the scene. This donation is being made in memory of Maurice Watkins, as this was one of the charities he supported.
  • Three Dads Walking / Papyrus: This is a charity set up by three dads who lost daughters to suicide. We provided £2,500 to support people aged under 35 at risk of suicide.

Lachlan Nisbet, a Brabners Foundation Trustee and Head of our Regulatory team, said: ‘At Brabners, we are committed to playing an active role in bringing about positive change, and the Foundation is a great way to ensure that our colleagues are involved in making decisions which will benefit our communities. These grants will make a difference to communities across the North West and support causes that mean a lot to our people’.

Over the past 10 years we have raised over a quarter of a million pounds for charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Help for Heroes, Crisis and Mind. To read more about the Brabners Foundation, click here.
