Nicola Whittle - Brabners legal team

Nicola is a Partner in our Corporate team.

Nicola is an experienced corporate and insolvency lawyer who handles a broad range of corporate transactions (on both a solvent and insolvent basis).

She acts for a range of corporate clients from SMEs to large companies advising and assisting them on various transactions including mergers, acquisitions and MBOs.

She regularly works on matters relating to owner managed and family businesses, guiding clients throughout the lifecycle of their business. She supports these businesses from the start-up stage right through to their eventual exit via trade or private equity sale, management buyout or sale to an EOT. Also, she advises business owners on scaling up by natural expansion, acquisition or private equity investment.

She also assists investors and shareholders to properly protect their investment in companies by preparing and advising upon the appropriate agreements that need to be in place. She supports from pre-investment, through to the investment stage and advises on how to handle the exit of an investor.

Nicola has a strong background in contentious and non-contentious insolvency work advising financial institutions, company directors and shareholders as well as acting for insolvency practitioners (both pre and post-appointment) across the North West.

She is classed as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ by The Legal 500. She won the ‘Young Lawyer of the Year’ award at the Insider Young Professionals Awards in 2018 and was named one of the region’s top 25 female entrepreneurs and innovators to watch in 2021 by Lancashire Business View.
