Second successful acquittal for Grime star Bugzy Malone

Tuesday 21 December 2021

We’re pleased to have secured a second acquittal on behalf of British grime artist Bugzy Malone.

The musician and actor had been accused of causing actual bodily harm against a member of the public in the evening following his 2019 Glastonbury performance. However, a five-day trial at Bristol Crown Court concluded with a unanimous not guilty verdict. The court heard that Mr Davies was assaulted and it was alleged that the response to the assault went beyond reasonable self-defence.

Bugzy (real name Aaron Davies), was represented by a team led by our Head of Regulatory Lachlan Nisbet and Litigation and Regulatory associate Charlotte McRae. Prior to the rappers’ recent UK tour, the team had also secured a separate not guilty verdict at a court hearing in Manchester in September in relation to two counts of inflicting grievous bodily harm after strangers had intruded on his home in 2018.

We’d like to thank Gordon Cole QC, Chris Tehrani QC and Julian King of Exchange Chambers for their support in securing a positive outcome for our client on both occasions.
