Brabners was shortlisted for Recruitment International’s Supplier Awards 2017.

Its nationally-recognised team has more than 25 years’ experience of advising recruitment agencies and other industry players, and its experts regularly advise on issues from the employment status of temporary workers to the application of the Agency Workers’ Regulations 2010.

The sports team at commercial law firm Brabners have advised Hull KR on an agreement with player Iain Thornley and his new club, Catalans Dragons.

Iain Thornley left Hull KR in October 2016 without serving appropriate notice and signed with Catalans Dragons. A dispute regarding compensation and the transfer of the players registration ensued.

A brief statement released by the club said:

The club can confirm that they have received satisfactory proposals to enable Iain Thornley to be released to the Catalans Dragons with immediate effect.

Commercial law firm Brabners has bolstered its corporate practice with the appointment of senior associate Nicola Whittle. Based in Preston, Nicola joins the firm from Stephensons Solicitors.

Nicola specialises in corporate, restructuring and insolvency work. She brings with her a wealth of experience, having acted for a range of corporate clients, from SMEs to large corporates, and has particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions, MBOs, joint ventures and retirement sales.

Commercial law firm Brabners has advised residential housing developer Redrow on the acquisition of Midlands-based Radleigh Homes.

Redrow acquired the business from a holding company, Ark Capital Group.

The deal will allow Redrow to expand in the East Midlands and establish a new division in the region.

John Tutte, chief executive of Redrow, said: "I’d like to thank Peter Gadsby, for the opportunity to acquire the business and I welcome the Radleigh Homes team to Redrow.

Commercial law firm Brabners LLP said increased client demand for its litigation, corporate and employment teams helped it maintain revenues in its last financial year, whilst strong profits and net assets were enabling the 64-partner firm to continue investing in its long-term growth strategy.

Revenue at Brabners, which has offices in Liverpool, Manchester and Preston, reached £29.6m in the 12 months to 31st April 2016 (2015: £30.1m), with total profit* of £9.7m (2015: £10m).

Brabners joined in last night’s celebration of Manchester’s young business talent at the Made in Manchester Awards 2017.

Organised by future pro-manchester, the awards recognised the success of Manchester’s young business talent across 14 categories.

Brabners sponsored the Property Professional of the Year category and the firm’s head of commercial and IP, Nik White, presented the award to Katie Wray of Deloitte. He also presented a highly commended award to Ben Roberts of Lambert Smith Hampton.
