Charity Law

Many organisations operating in the charity and social enterprise sector are substantial businesses making a significant contribution to the quality of life of people everywhere.

They have special requirements in charity law relating to their public purposes, their constitutions and their governance, but as large businesses they also have a significant need for commercial advice in specialist fields, such as employment law, real and intellectual property law and commercial contracts.

Our Charity Law solicitors have a long history of acting for charities and other social enterprises both locally and nationally. We understand the need of such organisations for sound commercial advice. We have a dedicated team specialising exclusively in Charity Law as well as specialists in other fields drawn from other departments within the firm. Together they provide significant experience and expertise to provide a quality service to our clients operating in the voluntary / not for profit sector.

We advise on the full range of charity law issues including:

In addition to this, we also provide a number of very cost-effective supplemental services to charities, including:

Having investigated a number of options, the trustees decided that Brabners were likely to provide us with the best and most cost effective solution. We felt that they understood what we needed, and were well placed to engage with both the Charity Commission and with Companies House. I’m happy to say that we have been proven to be correct. Stephen Claus and Graeme Hughes of the charity team have given great customer care, and the process has been effectively and efficiently followed through
