Brabners Big Idea raises £5,000 for local children’s hospices

Thursday 7th December 2017

Trainee solicitors at Brabners have had a busy autumn – turning their hands to fundraising for this year’s ‘Big Idea’ charity event resulting in over £5,000 being donated to local children’s hospices Claire House, Derian House and Francis House.

Teams of trainees from the Liverpool and Manchester offices went head to head in an ‘Apprentice’ style challenge to see who could raise the most money in just one day.

To generate their profits the two teams organised a series of events, including an auction of paintings created by children at Claire House, a FIFA Tournament, sponsored fancy dress, breakfast and lunch deliveries, bake sales, afternoon tea and a book swap.
In addition, the two teams worked with a whole host of North West businesses to offer a wide range of items in two silent auctions with prizes including a week on the Costa del Sol, signed sports shirts, jewellery vouchers, an overnight stay at Hope Street Hotel and meals and drinks vouchers at a variety of local bars and restaurants.

The trainee lawyers who took part were Will Eggleston, Robert Gambles, Zoe Glacken, Danny Greenland, Adrian Horne, Russell Kaminski, Elke Kendall, Lydia Loxham, Chloe Morgan, Josh Oxley, Alex Thow, Iona Wilson and Felicity Wimbush.
The money raised will go to the firm’s nominated charities. Brabners has already raised a total of almost £10,500 to date for the hospices through a variety of fundraising events across its three offices.

Rupert Jackson, Partner at Brabners who heads up the firm’s Charity Committe commented:

“This year saw our trainees put a lot of time, effort and thought into organising activities that raised a significant amount of money for a very worthy cause. It is important to mention a special thanks to our generous employees and the local businesses who supported the event and made donations to help raise as much money as possible on the day.”

Extra special thanks must be noted to all donors who helped make the day such a success, but in particular we note the donation of an experience day voucher from Experience Days.
