Strategic partner appointment for Brabners' sports team

Strategic partner appointment for Brabners' sports team

Tuesday 25th April 2017

Commercial law firm Brabners has appointed leading sport and entertainment lawyer Simon Taylor as a partner.

Simon has more than 30 years’ experience and specialises in sport, entertainment and licensing. He has an international reputation in motorsport, advising national governing bodies, teams and drivers, including the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association, on the full range of legal services. This includes representing clients at the FIA International Court of Appeal and National Motorsport Tribunals, and negotiating manufacturer, sponsor and driver agreements for leading motorsport teams.

In addition to his sports expertise, Simon has built a strong client base in the entertainment sector. He advises some of the UK’s largest promoters, festival and live event organisers, and venues, including Festival Republic, Live Nation and SJM. Other clients include Somerset House, and the Parklife and V music festivals.

Commenting on his new role, Simon said: “Brabners is renowned for its strong sports sector expertise and the calibre of clients it supports across the piece demonstrates the team’s deep understanding of the sporting world. This focus is a perfect fit for my experience and I’m looking forward to working with the team as we develop this further.”

Mark Brandwood, managing partner at Brabners, added: “By recruiting the best talent, we are significantly enhancing the service we can provide to clients. Simon is a highly respected lawyer and he has built a reputation for being the best in the business. With specialisms in motorsport and entertainment, his expertise complements our current offering and will be a key factor in the future growth of our national sports team.”

The news follows the appointment of associate Andrew McGregor, who specialises in dispute resolution in the sport sector.

Simon joins the firm from Kennedys and will be based in Brabners’ 15-strong sports team, which advises clients including England Golf, Rugby Football League, the England and Wales Cricket Board, British Swimming, Basketball England and various Premier League and EFL Championship football clubs.
