North West Housing Conference returns for 2016

North West businesses will have the opportunity to hear the expert views of some of the leading figures from the housing sector on the wide-ranging changes being faced by social housing providers when the annual North West Housing Conference returns to Liverpool in November.

The conference, now in its fourteenth year will be hosted by Brabners and Mitchell Charlesworth, both leading advisors to the social housing sector with support from a project group made up of Liverpool Mutual Homes, Regenda, ForViva, Symphony Housing Group and South Liverpool Homes.

Leading figures from the housing sector will give their expert views on the wide-ranging changes being faced by social housing providers, with keynote speakers confirmed as Paul Smee, Director General, Council for Mortgage Lenders; Julie Fadden, Chief Executive, The SLH Group; Gill Payne, Director of Policy and External Affairs, National Housing Federation and Chris Hancock, Head of Housing, Crisis UK. The event will be chaired by Derek Long, Director of arc4.

The conference will review the latest developments in policy and strategy and explore the economic realities facing the sector and will include a panel session called “Homes for All: Ownership v Rent” where delegates will have the opportunity to put questions to a panel of specialists from the social housing sector.

Current and emerging housing issues will be explored through a programme of keynote presentations and practical workshops presented by leading figures in the housing sector such as Bronwen Rapley, Chief Executive, Symphony Housing Group; Helen Brzozowksi, Managing Director, arc4; Hugh Owen, Director of Policy and Communication at Riverside and many more.

Topics include the learning that has been gained by the Voluntary Right to Buy pilot scheme, launched in the wake of the voluntary deal between sector and government; Developing for private rent and outright sale and the governance, finance and taxation issues involved and a practical overview of the key issues for social housing providers procuring development works through development agreements.

The annual conference, which is aimed at registered providers, housing professionals, local authorities and other related businesses, is returning following the resounding success of last year’s event which saw more than 180 delegates and 22 exhibitors from across the UK.

The North West Housing Conference will take place at Liverpool’s BT Convention Centre, Kings Dock, Liverpool Waterfront on Friday 4 November.
