Leading North West law firm Brabners has advised independent cable TV and broadband provider Smallworld Fibre on its sale to Virgin Media for an undisclosed sum.

Lancashire-based Smallworld serves 40,000 homes in western Scotland and north west England, delivering broadband and landline phone services to customers in Irvine, Dreghorn, Troon and Kilmarnock as well as Carlisle, Lancaster and Morecambe.

Leading North West law firm Brabners has acted for Two Fingers Brewing Co. Ltd ahead of the launch of its new beer in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. The beer, named Aurelio, has been developed with the support of Prostate Cancer UK and launched nationwide in Tesco on 21 January with all profits going to Prostate Cancer UK.

Leading law firm Brabners has retained its position as the most active legal adviser by deal volume during 2013.

The Experian Corpfin Deal Review, which details advisor league tables, records the corporate team at Brabners as advising on 51 transactions in the North West. This is the second year Brabners has topped the annual ranking by deal volume. Brabners also advised on an additional 27 corporate deals elsewhere in the UK, ranking it seventh in the country.

Leading North West law firm Brabners has advised specialist agricultural and distribution business NWF Group plc on its acquisition of SC Feeds Ltd, a leading animal feed manufacturer based in Stone, Staffordshire.

The total consideration for the acquisition is up to £6.75m comprised of £6m in cash and up to £0.75m to be satisfied by the issue of new ordinary shares in NWF.

Leading North West law firm Brabners is celebrating after being named Legal Team of the Year at the Insider North West Dealmakers Awards 2013.

Brabners saw off competition from seven other law firms to win the prestigious title.  The award was presented to the firm last night at a ceremony in Manchester attended by more than 900 of the region’s most prominent dealmakers and businesspeople.

Leading North West law firm Brabners has advised insurance broker Doodson Broking Group on its sale to US broker Integro for an undisclosed sum.

Entertainment, live events and sports specialist Doodson was established in 1964 and has offices in Hazel Grove, London and Halifax, as well as Austin, Texas.  In addition to clients in the entertainment, live event and sports sectors in the UK and US, the firm works with large corporate entities and high net worth private clients in the UK.

Leading North West law firm Brabners has advised the owners of Bolton-based manufacturer Ascot Doors Limited on its sale to German group DORMA for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 1983, Ascot Doors manufactures and installs doors and shutters for the retail, industrial and commercial sectors. The company, whose installations include Manchester United's Old Trafford Stadium, employs 225 people at its Bolton headquarters and 11 depots across the country.

Leading North West law firm Brabners has advised AIM listed Jaywing plc on the sale of its e-commerce unit, Tryzens Limited, for a transaction value of £6 million.

Jaywing, a UK-based digital communications company, said that as a result of the disposal it had paid off its bank debt and strengthened its balance sheet, which will allow it to consider investments in areas of greater strategic interest.

The transaction was a management buyout funded by Scottish Equity Partners.
