Brabners Private Equity and Venture Capital team have advised Business Growth Fund on its £3 million growth capital investment into Sentric Music.

Launched in 2006, Liverpool headquartered Sentric Music works with more than 90,000 songwriters, providing music publishing, licensing opportunities and royalty collection services.

Business Growth Fund’s investment will assist in funding Sentric Music’s international expansion plans, product development and future strategic partnerships and acquisitions.

Brabners is pleased to welcome the formal launch of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund, a £400 million government backed fund, established to provide finance to SMEs located in the North of England. The new fund offers three different funding options for SMEs, micro finance (providing small business loans of £25,000 to £100,000), debt finance (providing larger business loans of £100,000 to £750,000) and equity finance (providing £50,000 to £2 million of equity funding).

Mark Rathbone, partner and member of the supply chain and logistics sector at Brabners, said: “The Spring Budget represents a real opportunity for the Chancellor to flesh out his plan for transport infrastructure investment. The government has stated that 1.2% of GDP will be set aside annually. What we need now is a clear outline of how this money will be spent nationally and where.

Commercial law firm Brabners has bolstered its corporate practice with the appointment of senior associate Nicola Whittle. Based in Preston, Nicola joins the firm from Stephensons Solicitors.

Nicola specialises in corporate, restructuring and insolvency work. She brings with her a wealth of experience, having acted for a range of corporate clients, from SMEs to large corporates, and has particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions, MBOs, joint ventures and retirement sales.

Commercial law firm Brabners has advised residential housing developer Redrow on the acquisition of Midlands-based Radleigh Homes.

Redrow acquired the business from a holding company, Ark Capital Group.

The deal will allow Redrow to expand in the East Midlands and establish a new division in the region.

John Tutte, chief executive of Redrow, said: "I’d like to thank Peter Gadsby, for the opportunity to acquire the business and I welcome the Radleigh Homes team to Redrow.

Quat-Chem, the Rochdale-based hygiene products specialist, has been acquired by Nasdaq-listed Neogen Corporation, in a deal advised on by Brabners and DTE.

Commercial law firm Brabners has advised The Dining Group subsidiary, State Bidco, on the acquisition of Hi-Life Diners Club (Hi-Life), the subscription-based dining membership club.

The business, which is being acquired from Hi-Life Group, provides consumers and business customers with exclusive, discounted dining offers at more than 4,000 restaurants across the UK and Ireland.

North West law firm Brabners last night won an award for Professional Services to the Maritime Sector. The award, from Mersey Maritime, acknowledges Brabners’ expertise in advising businesses and services working in and for the sector. The ceremony was held at Wallasey Town Hall on Wirral.

Commercial law firm Brabners has been named the most active M&A legal adviser in the North West for 2015, having advised on 61 transactions throughout the region.

The rankings, published in an independent report by Experian, also place the firm’s corporate team seventh in the UK for deal volume, with 97 M&A transactions completed, a 23 per cent year-on-year increase in deal activity since 2014. The firm was also ranked joint second for deal volume in Wales.

Commercial law firm Brabners has advised office services provider Restore plc on the acquisition of the records management business of Wincanton plc for a consideration of approximately £55.7 million.

Restore is an AIM-listed company with North West facilities in Middleton, Manchester, Leigh and Bolton.
