Brabners works with Neptune and Peel on visionary regeneration plans for Liverpool

Tuesday 25th October 2016

Brabners has been involved with two landmark regeneration projects that will see huge developments to key areas of Liverpool.

In the first instance we worked with Neptune Developments helping them to deliver their mixed use regeneration of Lime Street in Liverpool. Neptune Developments along with Sigma and Liverpool City Council form the Regeneration Liverpool partnership behind the scheme, which was approved in 2015 but experienced delays due to a campaign to save the Futurist Cinema from demolition.

Iain Gamble Partner in our Real Estate team said "We worked with Neptune Developments on its mixed use scheme on Lime Street, a much-neglected entry point into the city of Liverpool. The team comprised of myself, Claire Petricca-Riding and Sandy Gill provided advice on the development and funding arrangements, hotel disposal, advised on planning matters and the judicial challenge that was made against the scheme."

The scheme will see 28,000 sq ft developed into retail and leisure units, including a 101-bedroom hotel pre-let to Premier Inn. There will also be a 412-bedroom student accommodation block.

The firm's development team led by Iain Gamble also worked with Peel helping them take a big step forward for their £5.5bn Liverpool Waters project. Your Housing Group (YHG) is planning to create 276 apartments on Princes Dock, The proposed £48m development would be YHG's third build-to-rent development and marketed under its private-rented-sector brand Hive.

The YHG waterfront development would be named Hive–City Docks and offer residents river and city views, 24-hour concierge services, premium restaurant and bistro facilities, and a range of in-apartment technologies.

Liverpool Waters is Peel's ambitious project to regenerate a 148-acre dockland site along the city's waterfront through a major mixed-use development.
