Brabners LLP and BDO LLP are delighted to invite you to join us on Wednesday 4 February in Manchester for a breakfast briefing on the future of 'umbrella schemes' following the Government's plans to reconsider tax relief on business expenses for temporary workers.

In the Autumn Statement, the Government announced a proposal to stop tax relief advantages for employment intermediaries, stating that income tax and national insurance contributions avoided through the use of overarching contracts of employment (OACs) is around £400m per year.

A consultation paper, "Employment Intermediaries: Temporary workers – relief for travel and subsistence expenses" has since been published, which seeks views on the use of OACs by employment intermediaries in the labour market and looks to remove the facility currently used to gain tax relief on these expenses.

Join us on Wednesday 4 February in Manchester where leading experts Paul Chamberlain, Head of Employment and Pensions at Brabners LLP and Ed Dwan, Partner at BDO LLP will be providing a breakfast briefing on the implications of the Government's proposal which will cover:

  • What's it all about? - An overview of the consultation paper
  • The implications for umbrella companies and the temporary labour market generally
  • Industry regulation
  • What's in the pipeline?

Webinar

On Thursday 23 June 2016, the United Kingdom voted to exit the European Union.

Whilst it is too early to understand the full implications of Brexit, it is clearly an important change for businesses with operations in Europe or the UK. In this interactive webinar, we will provide you with an insight into the impact of this decision on UK employment and recruitment laws and how we anticipate that Brexit may lead to changes to the laws affecting you and your workforce.

We will be keeping you fully up to date with the latest employment law developments and how we anticipate that these will impact on your organisations.

The webinar will feature key themes such as:

  • The employment and recruitment laws that have been derived from our relationship with the European Union; and
  • Our views on which laws are likely to be in the firing line for further changes or removal following Brexit.

Our fully interactive webinar will be streamed live. Sign up and join in the debate.
